State Rep. Ken Borton is encouraging small businesses experiencing financial hardships due to a historic lack of snow this winter to apply for federal funding through the Small Business Administration (SBA). Federal Economic Injury Disaster Loans are available to businesses in 42 Michigan counties, including all counties represented by Borton, because of ongoing drought declarations.

“Northern Michigan has a vibrant tourism economy that relies on snowfall for different outdoor recreational activities,” said Borton, R-Gaylord. “The complete lack of snow this year has left many folks with very little income. I’d encourage anyone affected by this warm winter weather to apply for assistance.”
